Overall I believe the Live Brief has been a success following the completion of the final collection, final samples for the
chosen brand along with sketchbook, brand research and number of mood boards.
However I feel with more time, I could have extended myself further with respect
to sampling and experimenting with unusual materials and how the knits could be
combined together adding further layers and texture.
Reflecting on the
exploration I have carried out to further my initial ideas, I feel, there are ways in which I could have pushed my practice further. There are new things I
would like to try with my techniques and processes. If I was given the opportunity again I
would, during the development stages, work on layering and further developing the idea of how I could
apply my detail and foil in new ways. In summary, I feel I have achieved the
full potential of the Live Brief given the time constraints I have had to work too.
With my visual research I
chose a similar subject to one brand which I had previously touched upon. However,
I decided to approach the subject from a different angle. On reflection I
believe it has worked well. Nevertheless, if I had carried out more visual
research I would have developed a stronger colour pallet with more diversity within the designs and incorporated more samples. As a whole I am still content with what I have
achieved.
I am insecure as to whether
my work fits in wholly with the brand, even though I have used it as soul
inspiration for this Live Brief. I feel it isn't accurately capturing the precise aesthetics that
the brand portrays. If I had more time I would be able to tweak and refine my
samples in such a way as to ensure they would encapsulate the brand more fully.
Whilst working on this
brief I feel I have gained a lot of experience and as a result have begun to develop an understanding
of working for a company. It has allowed me to become more insightful and appreciative of their design processes,
aesthetics and history.
Helen Lawrence and I have
emailed a few times, but as this is a busy period for the fashion industry I
didn't feel it appropriate to intrude too much. However, I do intend to
approach them about up and coming internships and work experience during the summer.
