This week I plan to focus more on the branding project and finalising my samples and pulling them together so they fit together more
fluidly as a collection. At the moment a few of the techniques and colours don’t
flow as smoothly through the collection as I would like. To address this I need
to pull out more of the greens and yellows suggested by my sketchbook into my
samples. Currently I feel, the main focus is on different tonal shades of blue which needs to be addressed by switching round my colour palette taking out tones of blue and replacing them with yellows and greens.
Likewise I need to increase the use of solid colours so as
to fit more with Helen Lawrence’s brand, owing to her use of bold, clean and colour balance through her pieces. I have contacted Helen Lawrence for more
information on her brand; asking what she thought specifically identifies her
brand and represents her the most. I anticipate once her busy period is over I will
get some helpful information and insights in reply.
In the meantime I am organising the better parts of my
samples by bringing them together. I aim combine to the whole collection by placing more
emphasis on the disjointed knit and embroidery detail in order to capture Helen Lawrence's brand identity. To this I also intend to bring in my own techniques, by
enlarging the scale of embroidery pattern and colour of thread increasing the
diversity and colours running through out the final samples.
With the main brief I will be planning out my knits, investigating how I could develop them and bring them to either the domestic or dubied machines. Also I will
be exploring my images, discovering the suggestions they bring to me, allowing me to pull out techniques and yarn choice. When picking
the right yarns for my samples I will need
to figure the right colour proportion through yarn wraps. With the colours chosen I them will need to decide whether flashes of brighter colour will be needed to be brought in to liven up the colour pallet. I feel my images are still to cluttered, so I will be breaking down each one into sections and taking parts from each and creating simpler designs to create samples.
